Pen on cartridge paper – scale 1:100
Baile an Chaisleáin, Inis Óirr, Aran Islands.
This drawing was the result of a study of the farm belonging to native Aran islander Paraic Póil. The study involved a close examination of the nuance and particularity of the walls and ground built by Póil. This drawing describes a portion of these walls and ground to the North of Paraic’s farm on Inis Óirr.
1:100 was an appropriate scale to describe both the pattern language within the walls and the ground texture. The scale of the drawing also allows a reasonable area of ground to be covered in order to understand the spatial relationship between the fields and laneways.
